Help us support local LGBTQ+ homeless youth and reduce isolation for local LGBTQ+ seniors
On this page you will find resources related to action in the form of LGBTQ+ community advocacy and also options for protest against organizations that seek to ignore, silence, or marginalize the LGBTQ+ community.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, BCLA will never directly or indirectly participate in political campaigns supporting or opposing any candidate for public office. This is a requirement imposed on all such organizations in order to maintain their tax exempt status.
Our advocacy efforts will focus on nonpartisan voter and issues education. We want to provide easier access to resources that explain the facts surrounding legislation changes that potentially impact the lives of our LGBTQ+ community members.
Legislative Issues
NJ State Bills S3491 (Senate) and A4656 (Assembly) are intended to "Secure protections for patients and providers accessing and providing legally protected health care activities; establish right of residents to legally protected health care services, which are restricted in other states."
As specified in the bill: "New Jersey, through this act, will codify critical protections to those seeking and providing reproductive and gender-affirming health care. Further, this act is intended to ensure that anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ+ persons cannot harm patients or providers."
You can help show your support for these bills by contacting the offices of NJ Senate President Nicolas P. Scutari and NJ General Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin. Click on the flyer at left for detailed information on how to contact your state representatives.
