Community Outreach

Part of our core mission at BCLA is to understand the needs of the LGBTQ+ community of Bergen County. To achieve that goal, we have a Community Advisory Group with members who represent a wide range of the community, so we can meet and discuss together our challenges and needs, and work on ways to connect people with the resources they need, and to find solutions to chronic problems and challenges our community faces.

This group meets online on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 7pm, for open discussions on the issues facing specific segments of our community, such as:

• Issues facing the Black & Brown Community

• Transgender challenges

• Issues faced by female-identifying Womyn

• Seniors over the age of 60 and their unique difficulties

• Youth issues, for children ranging in age from middle school up to young adulthood

We want your input! BCLA needs our Community Advisory Group to have representation from the widest possible range of our community, so that all voices are heard and responded to. And we also want to be joined by Allies who want to help advocate for LGBTQ+ causes.
