Depression & Bipolar Disorders

My name is Anthony Dimitrion (he/him). I am a psychotherapist, sex therapist, and LGBTQ+ affirmative therapist in Bergen County, New Jersey. My practice provides social-emotional support geared to today’s socially conscious, LGBTQ+ affirmative, forward-thinking young adults, millennials, & progressive individuals. As a gay-identified therapist, I strongly believe in the power of authenticity. When both client and therapist are able to be their authentic selves this creates a safe space where insight, growth, and self-compassion are possible. I have particular expertise in supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community and men of all orientations through concerns with mental health, sex, sexuality, gender, and relationships. I utilize evidence-based approaches including: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy. My ultimate goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, confidential space where clients feel comfortable to explore difficult topics while learning how to effectively cope day-to-day.

I am a psychotherapist who uses an eclectic blend of evidence-based psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies to assist my clients to acheive maximum symptom relief. Just as no two of us are exactly alike, so too is each person's pathway to healing and optimal functioning—each path must be tailored to the needs, challenges, and history of the individual.

For more than thirty years I have been the therapeutic partner of people who perceived a need to better understand themselves, the external forces that have oppressed them, the interpersonal patterns that have challenged them, and to develop more productive methods of coping to help them grow.

I meet with clients in my office in Woodcliff Lake, Bergen County, New Jersey, by telephone, and by secure Internet telepresence.

Please, take a few moments to get to know me and my approach.

Welcome, and thanks for taking a moment to review my profile. More importantly, hoping you embrace this moment, and acknowledge your tremendous courage in taking this next step in your journey. Perhaps you’re immersed in a strong emotion, or any combination of: pain, fear, anger, shame, guilt, envy, jealously, joy. Perhaps you’re in the process of a major life adjustment: Moving from your family-of-origin home and on your own; exploring sexual identity; new job, old ‘stale’ job; work-related stress; relationship challenges; adjusting to a ‘new normal’ after injury, physical illness / surgical procedure; aging.

Together, we’ll begin right where you are-- even if that’s from a place of thinking you’re stuck. Believe it or not – there is value in a state of ‘stuck-ness’ ! You have inherent value, and moreso, just because you breathe and take up space. You have many strengths—some you know, and others . . . yet to be discovered.

My ‘tool-box’: One size doesn’t fit all! I offer, first and foremost: a safe, non-judgmental setting, where we continue to traverse the path of your journey. My professional training, and 20 years of private-practice clinical experience incorporate various treatment models. With unconditional positive regard & a strength’s-based emphasis, shall we begin?
